Die DAAD Zentrale in Bonn hat ein grosses globales Netzwerk von Ortslektoren entwickelt. Es gibt zur Zeit 770 Ortslektoren in 46 Ländern weltweit, von Japan und Italien bis nach  Armenien und Spanien.  Auch in Australien  gibt es  Ortslektoren an den Universitäten in Sydney und Melbourne.
